Scottish National Cavy Club

A Little bit of Information on the SNCC

The Scottish National Cavy Club was founded around 1880 and was then known as the Scottish Rabbit, Cavy and Cat Club.

Nowadays the club is devoted to Cavies ( Guinea Pigs) and the aim is to encourage the breeding and exhibition of purebred Cavies in Scotland. See cavy breeders page to be put in touch with a exhibitor who can help you start out with your chosen breeds.

Points are awarded for best of breed at each show, with certificates, rosettes and trophies to be won. The largest of all the shows is the Championship Show which is held in Dunblane each October. This is a very popular show attracting a good entry.

The Club is a non-profit making organisation run by and for its members who attend the 9 shows which are held annually.

The club also hosts a Pet section at each show, which can be entered on the day.

Opportunities exist for members to train as Stewards and to learn the correct handling techniques and grooming.
